More details emerge

Here is the first screenshot of Project Iffy:

Despite appearances, I’m not as far behind as I look.  I’ve got some bits of code from another project that I plan to put to good use in Project Iffy.  With any luck, I’ll have a proof of concept running within a few days.

From the screenshot, we can see that Project Iffy is a desktop application targeting windows and being developed in C++Builder.  I’m not quite ready to fling open the Project Iffy kimono yet, but here are a few more details to whet your appetite:

  1. Project Iffy is a tool for software developers.
  2. There are a lot of competitors, ranging from free to a few hundred dollars (maybe more).
  3. If you’ve done any professional software development, you’ve probably used one of these competitors.
  4. It is not a text editor.

  1. What indicates that you are using C++ Builder (I’ve never used it)?

  2. Hi Greg, the giveaway is that the window icon is the default C++ Builder roman helmet logo. If you’ve ever used Delphi then you know what C++ Builder is all about, if not, I highly recommend checking it if you do any native win32 UI development.

  3. I wouldn’t pay more than $150 for this app :)

  4. And I wouldn’t dream of charging more than $149.95… I’ll even throw in a 10% discount if you buy before the beta :)

  5. That’s a great screenshot. It gave me a good laugh!

If you post a photoshop mock-up with lots of lists and tables and buttons, people assume you are almost finished. Show them an actual running app lacking only the uppermost layer, and they’ll think you’ve hardly started.
